Question About Weightlifting For Girls?
I work out almost everyday in school, 9th period. I read that if you don’t stretch, muscles are gonna look like guy’s, and I want lean muscles. But I work out 9th period, I can’t stretch because period is too short, I barely have time to lift, and then I go on the bus. If I came home and stretched an hour after working out, would it do anything or no? If no, any suggestions on what I should do to keep my muscles lean?

If you want lean muscles the thing to remember is low weight, high rep!
not stretching wont make your muscles bulky (again, that has to do with how you work them out) but it isn’t good to skip stretching for many other reasons! Stretching before AND after a workout will a)increase your flexibility B) prevent injury and C) prevent soreness… its a great thing to get in the habit of… if you skip it, you’ll get stiff and eventually pull something…

It’s exceedingly rare for a female to bulk up. Their muscles naturally tend to be leaner and they naturally have more body fat (in fact females need to have about 10-12% for healthy periods). Stretching is important though without stretching the muscles can shorten. So I advise doing yoga everyday you can also do exercises like Pilates or dance that focus on posture and muscle elongation. As for weight-lifting you should be doing that 2-3 times a week not everyday. You can do cardio everyday but with weight-lifting it’s best to have rest. The other person is right low weight high reps is best for females =)
